Books adapted for the screen.

There are some books that are better as movies. However I have noticed that more often than not the book is destroyed after it has been adapted for the screen.

Any one out there agree? Has anyone had a favorite book destroyed like that?

No book can be destroyed by a lousy screenplay not to mention bad movie direction and editing. Good story-telling – in any medium – is an art form. Let’s not forget the audience invariably with minds denser than brick walls.

What was mangled? Look. You see a beautiful sunset, you describe it. Was the sunset mangled by your translation or was your translation a mangled mess in itself?

jaggy has no sense of humour and very little regard manners, or gracious behaviour. He (? ) also jumps to ludirous conclusions and seems to have no ability to reason through even a simple statement.
              ah , well…
Me, I simply call ’em as I see ’em

Touchy aren’t you? LOL I just find thoroughly random thing funny.

Me touchy? Never. I felt that Nightbane and SEC were touchy. They found my remark rude. I was stating what I felt was factual. How can a literary masterpiece be destroyed by a talentless attempt to use it to make a movie? Perhaps, they were hurt by what I said. By the way, there is nothing random in life except for the clueless. I hope you don’t also find this statement rude as well. While I am at it, I might also add that your atrocious spelling and sloppy writing indicate a sloppy mind.

Quite offensive for someone who isn’t touchy. Also, if you are going to go off on people for their thoughts that you don’t agree with you will find yourself in sticky situations.
Further, your response was not an intelligent argument, but rather a juvenile tantrum. :-P

Go off? Is there any difference between being honest in telling an offensive truth and going off? Seems to me that it is ok for you to make a critical comment about books getting destroyed by people adapting them for movies. But it is NOT ok for me to point out that your observation is flawed.

Jaggy, I’ll be kind once last time and clarify for you what seems so to challenge your utterly literal mind: The classic literature that is made into screenplay has a deliberate meaning and message, sets a mood and scene , ti is these that are too often destroyed by inept attempts to take the story onscreen or even stage.
Is this a bit less muiddy to you now?

Yes, it is a lot less muddy. What are you drinking? I am not too lucid myself right now. I had a brandy after a bottle of wine at dinner not to mention the bourbon before that. You really need to focus on your spelling, my friend. I’m going to bed. Ciao.

So you’re a drunk who can’t spell? To each their own.

Too many to name, ever since childhood! Mom bought me a coloring book of the folks at the B bar B ranch, my favorite radio show, and I hated it. No one looked as I had pictured them.
